Sea-Trex Is Back – A Bold New Chapter Begins
2025 marks a huge year for the Stessl family — celebrating 50 years of boat-building legacy, the 20th anniversary of Makocraft, and the relaunch of Sea-Trex under the leadership of Tim Stessl.
With the retirement of industry pioneer Alf Stessl, his son Tim is taking the reins and reviving Sea-Trex as a modern, purpose-driven aluminium boat brand, now being built at their new Gold Coast facility in Ashmore.
“Sea-Trex has always had a strong name. Now we’re bringing it back — tougher, lighter, and built for the next generation of Aussie adventurers,” says Tim.
Made for the Car-Topper and Camping Market
The reborn Sea-Trex range is rugged, simple, and built to roam — perfect for off-grid explorers, campers, and first-time boat owners. Welded construction, no rivets, and smart design mean these boats are durable, easy to use, and ready to go wherever your 4WD takes you.
Built Locally. Backed by Experience.
Sea-Trex will run alongside Tim’s premium brand Makocraft, with each targeting different boating needs — Makocraft for offshore and high-spec use, Sea-Trex for lightweight, affordable fun.
Manufactured in the same purpose-built facility, every Sea-Trex model benefits from Tim’s 35+ years in the game, hands-on design, and a commitment to quality.
“This isn’t just a rebrand. Sea-Trex is built for today’s boating lifestyle — simple, strong, and Aussie-made,” Tim says.
Available through a growing national dealer network, Sea-Trex is back — ready to take Aussie adventurers off the beaten track and onto the water.
