Sea-Trex Returns to SCIBS 2026 — Born in ’83. Back on the Water.
Some brands evolve. Others come back swinging.
Sea-Trex will make a statement at the 2026 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS), relaunching one of Australia’s most recognisable aluminium boat names — first built in 1983 and now stepping into a new era with intent.
In July 2025, Tim Stessl took ownership of the brand from his father, Alf Stessl — bringing Sea-Trex back into the hands of the family that built it in the first place.
This isn’t a quiet return.
Eight boats will headline the SCIBS display, showcasing a refreshed lineup built around what made Sea-Trex matter from day one — tough, uncomplicated boats designed to get people on the water.
“This brand was never about flash,” said Tim Stessl. “It was about getting out there. That’s exactly what we’re bringing back — just sharper, cleaner, and built for how people boat today.”
The relaunch leans into its roots. There’s a clear nod to the era that shaped it — 1980s Gold Coast boating at its most raw and real — but without becoming a throwback. It’s heritage with intent, not nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake.
Positioned under the line “Boating Starts Here,” Sea-Trex is designed as the entry point into the Stessl portfolio — built for first-time buyers, weekend fishos, and anyone chasing a no-fuss way onto the water.
Alongside Makocraft, the group’s premium plate boat range, Sea-Trex rounds out a complete offering — from accessible runabouts through to serious offshore machines.
Backed by Tim Stessl Marine, the Stessl family continues to build a vertically integrated marine business spanning manufacturing and retail, grounded in long-term Australian production.
With more than 80 years of combined experience between them, Tim and Alf Stessl represent one of the country’s most enduring boatbuilding legacies. Sea-Trex is the next chapter — and it’s being written with purpose.
SCIBS 2026 attendees are invited to step onboard and see what’s been built.
Because some names don’t disappear.
They just wait for the right time to come back.
SCIBS 2026 attendees are invited to visit the Sea-Trex display to experience the relaunched range firsthand.
